Purple is by far my favorite color! I had fun doing these 2 eggplants as a part of my online watercolor class demonstrations. I used lots of strong color to get the bold dark almost black purple and hardly any color on the variegated one. Another experimental painting in which I was trying to capture the vivaciousness of dahlias. I crazily threw in the color and then applied zig-zaggy outlines to express the gaiety and movement of the hues. I was particularly entranced by stems in the water through the transparency of the vase.

This is another in a series of interpretive floral paintings. The dahlias intense colors are offset by jagged lines and the spotty background suggests a wall behind the table. I like to work with transparent vases and how they distort stems.

The Prophet by Terry Honstead
