I was playing around with different motifs and decided this Celtic Knot needed 3 beetles! It was really fun to do and if I were into tattoos...... This is a Woodboring Beetle. I am fascinated with iridescence and decided to to the underside of the beetle. The underside was much more interesting with lots of nooks and crannies of dazzling color. "Majestic Cat" by Martha Kisling

MAJESTIC CAT

Original Watercolor - 11x15

 Purchase Info

I started Majestic Cat with wet paper and painted turquoise and yellow ochre randomly, being careful to leave white paper at the bottom for a vignette effect. While everything was still wet I sprinkled instant coffee crystals around for added texture. After it all dried, I used alot of negative painting to pull out the big cat and rocks.
