What a cutie is this plump little bird with the most beautiful blue/slate gray/white feathers! "Sweet Tweet 5" , a small wildlife watercolor painting is painted from the photo I took from my kitchen window, my favorite viewing spot for my little flighty friends! I suppose all the unseasonably rainy more temperate summer days this year brought him to the wooded area of my southern garden!

Sweet Tweet 3. my small wildlife watercolor describes his sudden appearance for my pleasure. I have taken to looking out the back with my binoculars as an aid to my doing justice to my painting of this beautiful bird!

Chilly Chaps Penguins

8x5.5 watercolor on Canson 140 lb cold press paper with Daniel Smith/AJ paints, drawn today. I used several cool colored crayons including white to outline trees behind the penguins, then laid in loose spontaneous washes of ultramarine, manganese and midnight blue. No masking used, just went around snowy white areas leaving as the white of the paper. Black was mixed with alizarin crimson and thalo green for this pair of chilly chaps.
