Horse & wagon were usually the only means of transportation, making the visits to neighbors and trips to town a time-consuming journey. They, however, could truly see and experience the country they were traveling. Many found peace in the beauty & expansive space around them. In today's mobile society, can you even imagine using an open wagon in all kinds of weather on unpredictable roads as your only form of transportation?
